Biography

Growing up in the small college town of Sewanee, Tennessee, Dan first became interested in music at the age of 11 when his older brother taught him some chords on a guitar. Dan discovered his love of music and writing while also developing his vocal abilities in a small, local Appalachian church.

At age 15 Dan had his first studio experience and his fascination with the recording process began to grow. Although a talented athlete, music seemed to engulf his life and Dan began to pick up other instruments like harmonica, mandolin and lead guitar. Much of Dan's time was spent playing bars and college parties or visiting 100-year-old churches listening and absorbing many different styles of music. It wasn't long before Dan and his band Crow Creek garnered a local following and was performing 150 dates a year around the Sewanee and Chattanooga area.

Influenced by such musical greats as Johnny Cash, Hank Williams Sr. and Conway Twitty, Dan was also influenced by such artists as Bob Seger, Fleetwood Mac, Tom Petty and U2. Perhaps the people who had the most impact on Dan though, were his family and friends. Dan credits all these people in helping develop his own musical identity.

Dan signed his first publishing deal with Blacktop Music Group, Inc. in September of 2001. Mike Sebastian, of Blacktop Music Group, comments, "Dan has a unique ability to relate to everyone with his lyrics". "Whatever he writes about you can be sure it's real, probably happened and will stir your emotions". Danny recently had one of his songs recorded for a greatest hits package by Sawyer Brown for Curb Records.

Dan and his wife Tammy have been married for 10 years and currently reside in a 3,700 sq. foot house that Dan (also a master carpenter) built with the help of his family and friends. When not working in his ever-growing home studio, Dan enjoys sports, fishing, summer gardening and raising goats.
